My Song

I knew The Story well

Your melody drew me along

I’d seen Your light in darkness

Yet in blackness lost my song

You gave me rainbows after rainstorms

Raised the road to meet my steps

Still I toiled to earn Your love

Believing I was Your regret

And my eyes were so eclipsed

To miss The Gift dressed up in scars

That came to me in all my sin

And cleansed me brighter than the stars

How could I not see that this love

Dressed in bloodied, shredded cloth,

With His crown dripping of triumph

Had absorbed all of the cost?

Make me see what I can’t see

And keep me from the blinded eye

That misses You at work amidst the sorrows and the sighs

Lift the veil just so that maybe

I might see the reason or the rhyme

Of how events misunderstood develop gracefully in time

Only you my God, are My Story

You are My Melody and Lord

Keep me singing in the blackness

Be my song forevermore….
